In reply to: Error establishing a database connectionKrishna – you rushed to judgement, I wasn’t trying to Hijack the thread, and perhaps my typo using ‘have’ vs. ‘had’ contributed to you thinking that, I guess ‘Grammar is to Comprehension is what Syntax is to coding’. With that said.
I was trying to point out a possible solution to MDSimone’s problem not post a question for myself.
So I’ll resay it with my typo corrected.MDSione – I HAD the same problem and received the exact same “infamous Error establishing a database connection message”
I solved it by double checking down to everything but the salts that DB info in the ‘wp-config’ is correct. And when I did that I then got the error message above (the 1045). As I cant wait 48hrs fro a Godaddy answer, I then made a new WordPress Self-hosted install, then re-imported my last back up of the site, and then edited the WP-Config DB info to go to THAT database. Site is now up. I lost about 2 days worth of changes that I had not exported to my external DB. But glad to have the site back up.
All the Best

Hey I have the exact same issue (mymergemusic.com/wp) After infinity Checking username and password for the Database info in the wp-config.php file, I decided to go the source, the GoDaddy Starfield phpMyAdmin.
I got error message refuses to log me in even though I am a gilllion% certain its the right pw, I even reset the pw still fails. Check yours the issue maybe the same.
I’m writing godaddy for an answer or a way to speak with starfield as Godaddy is notorious for “We don’t provide support for software we offer cuz w’re too cool with our Danika Patrick Commercials”
Error
#1045 – Access denied for user ‘mym1313712444078’@’72.167.233.37’ (using password: YES)Hey WP Forum Admins should I provide a follow up on a solution as its not really a wordpress issue but a Godaddy/Webhost issue?

In reply to: Cannot Install/Update Plugins Since Upgrade to 3.2Hey All,
I think I found the solution on my end. On the same manage my applications page GoDaddy has (thats where you install/update/uninstall your applications like wordpress)
I updated my version of WordPress from 3.2.1 to 3.3.1 and THAT was the issue. I did a full rollback to 3.2.1 and BAM! everything is Just fine and dandy joy joy joy out the wazoo.
So on my end (might just be my install alone) something with version 3.3.1 doesn’t jive and causes a fail on updates or installs of plug ins and themes. So if your on version 3.3.1 and having this issue do a rollback.
I told the GoDaddy support member that same news. They finally answered me after 6.5 hrs 3.5 hrs later than their 3hr posted response time but reliable hosting for wordpress is an issue for another topic post.

What host do you have?@ Everyone
I have GoDaddy 4GH Deluxe hosting (unlimited sites, unlimited bandwith, 150gb storage and 25 MySql databases etc) which they tell they made specifically for using WordPress self hosted – including the WordPressMU or MS. Its a shared server. Do I have to have a dedicated server to get these permissions? My back story on this:
Everything worked fine regarding permissions until I added the OSCommerce to my account, its an App available in my Application admin like word press. Its recommended in their top apps right below WordPress. And lots of plug ins on the WordPress.org say their based on OSCommerce so I installed it.Godaddy says they answer all issues within a 3hr time line, I’m on hour 5 waiting going into 6 hrs so i came back here hoping to find an answer.

In reply to: Word Press Directory Multi Site Domain MappingYeah finally found the solution. After an hour and speaking with 3 different Godaddy Techs, they found my iMergeAndSee.com despite my setting the A name records etc to the MyMergeMedia.com i.p. address was still defaulting to a free hosting account they gave me. I had to have them remove the free hosting account.
No purchase of dedicated server or dedicated i.p. required.
Only downside is its quite slow to load, but I can live with it.Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Word Press Directory Multi Site Domain MappingI’m on the line with godaddy now asking them the very same thing. They’re trying to convince me to buy a dedicated server. I told them exactly above.
“I’m trying to map iMergeAndSee.com so that it goes to MyMergeMedia.com. But when I set it up, it just goes to a static holding page. The DNS resolves to the same IP as MyMergeMedia.com…”Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Word Press Directory Multi Site Domain Mapping@ipstenu I gave GoDaddy the whole story last week, they had me take screenshots of each part of the set up process as well as provide the instructions I was given for what I have been trying to do, its been 4 days and they have no answer I’ll try calling them again today.
@andrea Well my only frame of reference in a process like this the process I went through when I was using blogger. And that process is very similar to what this Domain mapping Plug in is trying to do. ON the host site end (in this case blogger by google) I enter the domain name iMergeAndSee.com.
Then on the Domain DNS side (GoDaddy) in the A name for ‘@’ I enter the i.p. address that Blogger by Google gives me, 64.202…etc then in the CNAME section for ‘WWW’ I enter ghs.google.com. This worked for me for the last 5 years, I additionally have 6 other subdomains all doing the same thing, they ALL work. They all have continued working despite this fiasco for the main domain. (music.imergeandsee.com, entertainment.imergeandsee.com and so on).
I didn’t have to hire anyone for this I just followed the instructions from Blogger. Given how very similar they are is it possible that maybe just maybe a WordPress 3.2.1 Site with Sub Directory Install hosted by Godaddy just doesn’t work with this plug in? Could it be that I have to switch to Sub-Domains install? Or maybe get a dedicated server. If the latter is the case then Godaddy really needs to catch up to the rest of host services. I’m feeling like the most advertised company is the worst here.
I ask because I’ve been going crazy searching this forum for days and I don’t see anyone with my exact set up that was able to get there’s working except for G.Michael (http://gmichaelguy.com/blog/2010/11/28/my-wordpress….)
My only recourse for now is to switch back to blogger, get on the line with GoDaddy as Ipstenu said.
Maybe my answer is to setup my entire network as a Subdomain.
I have exactly the same problem, I was given this link http://gmichaelguy.com/blog/2010/11/28/my-wordpress-3-0-multi-site-domain-mapping-with-godaddy/ maybe it’ll work out for you, didn’t work for me, if you can get it working give me a shout, would love to know. My only recourse is to just use domain forwarding* which you may get stuck using as well.
*domain forwarding: log into your godaddy account, go to Domain Details by clicking the domain you want to use under the my products link, to your left under Domain Information you’ll see the name server section, above that is the Forwarding info, from there you’ll be able to set up your domain to forward to the web address of your choice. you can choose to mask it. The downside here is your not gonna get pretty permalinks for your site. Which is why i am desperate for an answer.

In reply to: Word Press Directory Multi Site Domain Mapping@andrea I have a Deluxe Hosting with 4GH account that I upgraded to because the Godaddy folks said I need to do to the word press MultiSite.
The GoDaddy tech said the 4GH was optimized specifically for use with programs like WordPress.Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Word Press Directory Multi Site Domain MappingSigh, I thought I was following instructions, whatever I just need my site working is the bottom line, I’m losing traffic, therefore ad revenue and am desperate.
173.201.208.1 is the I.P. Address for MyMergeMedia.com I just Pinged it with Start>Run>CMD then entered ping mymergemedia.com
“reply from 173.201.208.1 bytes=32 time=82ms TTL48”I have that because I have a SubDirectory install not SubDomain install, hence why it says false, I think I got that from WP_Candy
Following the info from Otto press at the DNS for iMergeAndSee.com I put the A Record to the I.P. Address for MergeMedia (the 173.201 etc above)
“Here you have a few different options, but two main ones that count. You can either put in the I.P. address of your server (as defined in your domain’s main A record) or you can put in a CNAME that points to your server. The IP address is what most people will want to use. If your server uses more than one, you can enter them all here, separated by commas.” – OttoPressThen I tried the CNAME method. no joy there either. Tried asking godaddy for help but they have no clue.

Last Updated: 2011-7-19 Downloads: 83,379I was waiting on a reply for this but never got an email from this forum (I checked the box to be alerted) Just saw it when I did a search.
Also I feel you were very very rude in just closing the post I responded to on this very same issue “http://wordpress.org/support/topic/domain-mapping-is-not-working?replies=12#post-2425856” You basically closed it without giving me a chance to respond that my issue was that, Domain mapping on my multi site not working with GoDaddy. I put all the details there of what I have been going through in trying to make this work.

In reply to: Domain Mapping is not workingI did everything at the http://gmichaelguy.com/blog/2010/11/28/my-wordpress-3-0-multi-site-domain-mapping-with-godaddy/ site.
Still no joy. Whats going on here?
I have mymergemedia.com
I am trying to make, http://mymergemedia.com/imergeandsee
go to imergeandsee.comI did all the steps, have gone through dozens of forum posts and no joy with anything.
I set up the sunrise in the wp-config.php (see below).
I copied the plug in file ‘domain_mapping’ to the mu-plugins folder.
I set up the DNS in the imergeandsee.com, as instructed the A Record goes to the I.P. Address 173.201.208.1 the CNAME ‘WWW’ goes to mymergemedia.comIt was a similar process for using the Google Blogger which I had working for the last 5 years, ‘A’ name in the Domain goes to I.P. Address, and the WWW points to the domain (for google it was ghs.google.com, the blogger address ‘imergeandsee.blogspot.com’) I assume the WordPress Domain plugin does this same thing on my “mymergemedia.com” domain.
So is something wrong with the plugin then? If so how do I fix it?
I have been trying to fix this for the past week, my imergeandsee.com has been down* * Change this to true to enable the display of notices during development. * It is strongly recommended that plugin and theme developers use WP_DEBUG * in their development environments. */ define('WP_DEBUG', false); define('WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE', true); define( 'MULTISITE', true ); define( 'SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL', false ); $base = '/'; define( 'DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', 'mymergemedia.com' ); define( 'PATH_CURRENT_SITE', '/' ); define( 'SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1 ); define( 'BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1 ); define( 'SUNRISE', 'on' ); /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */ /** Absolute path to the WordPress directory. */ if ( !defined('ABSPATH') ) define('ABSPATH', dirname(__FILE__) . '/'); /** Sets up WordPress vars and included files. */ require_once(ABSPATH . 'wp-settings.php');The only other thing I can think is that I have sub domains entertainment.imergeandsee.com, lifestyle.imergeandsee.com are two of them. Right now the home page is dead and I am losing my traffic. I need a fix ASAP. I had a similar problem for 3 weeks with the multi site network I’m thinking, I’ll have to dump the word press effort and go back to blogger. I’ll suffer for a few more days but thus far the extra stress and effort has not been worth it.
