Hi Donna,
not sure why that is.
I have created a test preview on my site also: http://www.ibenic.com/?post_type=giveasap&p=1758&preview=true
Could you give me access to FTP & Admin Credentials so I can test what is happening there? You can send them through my contact page: http://www.ibenic.com/contact/ or directly to my email i.benic[at]hotmail.com ( change [at] with @ ) 😉
That may be if the secret key is wrongly copied. Could you double check that both secret & public key are correctly saved?
I have tried it out on my test site and it worked out fine.
Hi Steven, thank you very much for such a nice post. I’ll check it out.
I did test it with a clean WordPress install with my plugin and yours. Everything worked out fine and I couldn’t reproduce the mentioned error.
I am still trying to get that error on my own test site so I can proceed and find what’s wrong and how to fix it.
The entries will increase as others subscribe from the share link. That way, we are making sure that the winner will be actually the one who has given you the most subscribers 🙂
Great thing! You might want to consider to use Google ReCaptcha that is provided with Simple Giveaways, so you’re sure that it will block spammers on the giveaway.
Thank you for letting me know your solution! 🙂
P.S. Are you maybe using the plugin “WP Spamshield”? It seems that is a “popular” error on that plugin.
Are you using a caching plugin? If so, have you tried clearing the cache?
I will check on it when I get home. Just wanted to let you know that I am aware of your support request.
Hi Arial, thank you for such a nice review! (Late reply since I haven’t got any notification on your review).
So for the shortcode part, the idea behind that was for the form to inherit the styles from the site/theme so my color decision would not break the whole style guide of the site.
I have tested the share and it worked out well for me.
Would you mind describing the steps you’ve done to test that? Maybe I’m doing a different test or something I don’t see as another real scenario:)
I’ll check it out and see. When I tested it on my own everything worked out fine. Will test again:)
There are articles which might help you or a plugin. The first search I made, I’ve got this:
Article: http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-change-sender-name-in-outgoing-wordpress-email/
Plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-change-default-from-email/
If that doesn’t help, some more research might be required on your side. But I think that should do it.
Hehe, I try to answer as fast as possible.
If you embed the form from your autoresponder, the subscriber, probably, won’t get registered in the giveaway itself.
The confirmation email when you subscribed was sent to you twice? The WordPress function is sending such emails that put the wordpress@yourdomain.com if there is nothing set as email (I think).
For the emails from my site, I am usually using a plugin for SMTP setup so I can connect my email providers such as gmail or hotmail.
Hi @kravve, for now, there is no way except changing the code manually which I wouldn’t suggest.
I do plan to push a bigger update somewhere in October which will include the field for the name and probably have the availability to add more fields if necessary.
You will also be able to see all subscribed users in a better way & there will probably be a double opt-in feature so no bots/spammers can get into and win (even if they pass the Google Captcha).
The latest update should have fixed that:)
