My media files are segregated by year–wp-content/2014, wp-content/2015, wp-content/2016–and as of this morning (after loading WP 4.4.1), all images not in the 2016 folder are not loading.
I can load the url independently– http://havecoffeewillwrite.com/wp-content/2014/top-of-mind.jpg —but only the name of the image shows up in the blog itself:
