    Can anyone help please.???
    Upgraded to 4.4, and clicked on Media, it normally display the content of the media library but now, nothing shows up, even if I click on Library, still nothing.

    I can’t even drag and drop to upload photos. When I did, photo is open in browser as a preview. I can upload individual but when I click on link “Switch to the multi-file uploader” option, the link has hash “/media-new.php#” and going nowhere.

    Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Thanks James for the quick response.
    I think the problem is with WP 4.4
    When I am about to deactivate the plugins as you suggested, i clicked on the select all check box to select all plugins but nothing is selected to do the bulk actions. Which i think to prove that Wp 4.4 is causing this. Its happening on other sites too with different hosting company.

    Any clue?

    OK, works fine for me. Did you make a backup before updating? You could always restore and try the update again.

    Not necessarily proof of WP yet. We’ve got almost 2 million download so far, and I’ve only seen 2 reports including yours.

    Can you deactivate them individually? Try that.

    Basically, we’re ruling out all third-party causes first.

    Since upgrading to WP4.4 I’m having problems uploading images too. So you can add mine to your list too.
    The images upload, but all I see is the placeholder image. When I click on the file in the media library, the image is fine.
    Have no idea what has happened. It was ALL fine before I updated to WP4.4. So that is clearly the issue!!
    Very frustrating.

    Similar problem here with Featured Images. On many sites I manage the Featured Image is grayed out. In checking code I found a corrupt image URL. On some sites it’s all the Featured Images, on other sites only a few, but it’s the same corrupted image URL.

    I’ve deactivated all plugins, switched to the latest WP Themes (2016, 2015) and the corrupted URL persists. Then I added each plugin and the same problem with each remains.

    The Featured Image URL is being corrupted somehow and it all started with WP 4.4.

    Any other ideas?

    Instead of the Featured Image URL being something like this:

    http://mysite.com/images/uploads/2012/05/20120522-myimage.jpg

    The corrupt URL looks like this:

    http://mysite.com/images/uploads//home/site/public_html/images/uploads/2012/05/20120522-myimage.jpg

    This problem has occurred on about seven sites so far, but in varying degrees. Some sites have every Featured Image link corrupted, other sites just a few, but the link corruption is the same and deactivating plugins and changing themes does not fix the problem.

    UPDATE – This corrupted image URL problem exists with fresh installs of WP 4.4. The 4.4 update is bad.

    I am getting this across many sites, edit buttons gone, cannot see any themes in add new theme see the screen shots

    this is a new install in last few minutes

    there must be an issue with update

    Same thing was happening to me – no files showing in Media. I turned off the BitDefender anti-virus software and everything worked again.

    ditto for above ^

    Ok so I looked bit-defender and found these error message.
    Sorry I had to remove the site address as its gov. thingy.

    http://prntscr.com/9cefpr

    Somehow, the code is reporting as trojan.

    Well according to the link by James Huff I have white listed the website that I’m working on into the internet security program. In my case it’s bitdefender. After that mine is working good.

    For some reasons it seems too sensitive for security to trigger n block the site.

    Good luck guys.

    Bitdefender came out with an update yesterday which should fix the problem.

    add_filter('wp_get_attachment_image_attributes', function($attr) {
        if (isset($attr['sizes'])) unset($attr['sizes']);
        if (isset($attr['srcset'])) unset($attr['srcset']);
        return $attr;
    }, PHP_INT_MAX);
    add_filter('wp_calculate_image_sizes', '__return_false', PHP_INT_MAX);
    add_filter('wp_calculate_image_srcset', '__return_false', PHP_INT_MAX);
    remove_filter('the_content', 'wp_make_content_images_responsive');

    i fixed mine with the code above – apparently, if you have HTTPS enabled on your site (or other plugin conflicts) images may be broken – the above code should be added to your functions.php child theme file (it will disable auto responsive images in WP 4.4)
