1: I think yes, if you edit the parent file, your changes will be overwritten in case of an update of the theme. You also need to copy your 02.homepage.php to your child theme and you can therefore modify the hompage.php located in your child directory.2: Can’t help, maybe you should open another ticket regarding this issue

For me, my slider height is at 500 and my images are 960×420. I don’t know why but it fits perfectly. Hope it helps

Here is exactly what I want to do:

To this: http://imgur.com/xTIWRII,BryOzt1#1The only solution I found for the moment is to add a blank pictures, but it just leaves too much blank space before the text.
Hope my images helps to understand what I would like to do.

I would like to remove the two stripes on the side but I don’t know how.For most of users on this forum, the page seems to cover 100% of the screen, with no stripes on the side at all.

And then edit 02.homepage.php and 05.blog.php
Then Ctrl+F Read More and replace by whatever you want!
