    Hi @the_lar

We apologize if you are having issues getting the modal to launch, but the fact that thousands of users every day are able to access it without issue indicates that the two examples you’ve provided are edge cases at best.

As previously suggested, try deactivating and reactivating the plugin, or deleting and reinstalling it entirely.

    Hi @vshoward

Here is the list of fields captured via the Consent Logs feature, available only on the Cookie Compliance web application:

Cookie Compliance export format is based on current work to establish a compliant consent record structure from International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC 27560).

    moc (method of collection)
    jurisdiction
    sub (data subject ID)
    consent
    jti (consent ID)
    lat (local area time)
    purpose
    data_app_id
    data_session_id
    data_event_type
    data_controller_on_behalf
    data_controller_contact
    data_controller_company
    data_controller_address

    Hi @jfkweb,

For the plugin-only version, we do not provide any automatic blocking of cookies. To get access to the Autoblocking feature, you must sign-up for Cookie Compliance and implement the blocking script via the Webapp. Once implemented, the blocking script will block GTM until the visitor opts-in to Category 2: Content Personalization cookies.

To answer your question about settings required in tag manager, no, there is no setup that would prevent our plugin from blocking GTM other than the one described above. This is because GTM can collect other types of information beyond IP address that would, for example, enable their system to continue tracking a visitor and collate their browsing session to other data they may have stored about that visitor.

    Hi @yaseico

We do not provide any display position that violates the “Cookie Wall” rules currently prescribed under GDPR and other data protection laws. The rule states that the Notice should not prevent the visitor from seeing the contents of the site as this is a violation of the “freely given consent” principle.

    Hi @the_lar,

We have been unable to recreate this issue, and the “Add Compliance Features” button is working within expected parameters across all browsers. We suggest deactivating and reactivating the plugin to access the modal.

    Hi @tangdesign

Please contact cookie.compliance@hu-manity.co for any issues regarding a refund.

Our decision to automatically upgrade our premium subscribers to a more proactive consent framework was not taken lightly. An email was sent to all subscribers informing them of the update, along with instructions on how to adjust the configuration in order to align the previous design with the new framework.

We are aware our new design impacts your website’s UX, and will be releasing a patch within the next week to improve the sizing and responsiveness across all sites so that the display takes up less of the viewport. However, with enforcement of compliance violations increasing with each new law / guideline, we believe it is more important for us as a trusted consent vendor to do everything in our power to help you stay ahead of these laws and remove the risk to your business.

For instance, in Italy, the July 10th guidance dictates that the site visitor landing on your site for the first time “immediately views an area or banner whose dimensions are, at the same time, [1] sufficient to constitute a perceptible discontinuity in the use of the contents of the web page he is visiting…” (achieved by the sizing of the banner being greater than 10% of the page), “…but also [2] such as to avoid the risk that the user may resort to commands and therefore make unwanted or unaware choices.” (achieved by the unique 3-choice display + duration selection experience).

Our goal is to go above and beyond the latest enforcement guidelines, which are becoming more defined and more similar across different jurisdictions every day. We are tracking how some of these strict requirements in the EU will soon be reflected in new laws throughout Asia, South America, and North America, and we are committed to helping businesses stay ahead of the dozens of new requirements that will make it more and more difficult to determine “what is compliant” in the near future.

We understand if this does not work for your business, and hope that you understand our intentions.

    Hi John,

Apologies on the contact form issues – thanks for letting us know!

We would be happy to work with you on solving the integration issue. Please send an email with details about your plugin, how you initially integrated with our previous version, and what issues you are encountering now.

We’ve recently done a major update to the product to make it compliant with 100+ data protection laws and draft regulations – you may have seen this new version running on our corporate site.

We would love to learn more about your plugin and see if we can help support your efforts via a new initiative we are developing to list “trusted plugins” that integrate with our newest offering and support consumer data property rights.

Please send an email to cookie.compliance@hu-manity.co and lets take it from there.

    Hi @doffine

We reviewed this suggestion and intend to make the proper changes so that this issue no longer happens. The fix was planned to be implemented in a previous update but due to the large volume of changes made across the application, we were unable to properly test and thus delayed its implementation. Thanks for your patience.

Thank you for the feedback, and we apologize if the latest update to Cookie Notice introduced any confusion. To clarify:

    – The latest update gives you the choice to signup for the Cookie Compliance webapp that adds features like autoblocking, cookie categories, and consent storage – these technical features are all required under GDPR and other data protection laws. The only way we can provide them is through a web application that you have the option to sign-up for under either a free or professional plan.

    – You can choose to decline the upgrade and continue using the plugin-only version by clicking “skip for now” at the bottom of the signup page

    - “Compliance Status” is set to inactive as it means your domain is not running Cookie Compliance, and is just using the basic Notice.

We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

    Thanks for the review @nirajshah-1

We introduced the Compliance upgrade with the (admittedly aggressive) full splash screen to attempt to communicate to Cookie Notice users that they are at risk of not complying with the latest clarifications to existing data privacy laws (as well as new laws coming into enforcement w/in next 18 months).

These clarifications include ‘Prior Consent Rules’, which state that consent is invalid if cookies are set / sent prior to consent being registered, and a requirement to record ‘Proof-of-Consent’, which instructs data controllers (i.e. the business behind the website) to store consent receipts in a machine-readable standard.

Cookie Compliance provides the Autoblocking and Consent Logs services (in addition to consent analytics and many more UI/UX customizations) for a monthly subscription because these services generate API and data storage costs.

While we agree that the full-screen takeover is both painful and annoying, we made the decision to implement this approach as it was the most effective way to bring your attention to the increasing compliance risk that you / your customers are facing.

We wish you the best of luck in finding an alternative.

    Thanks for the feedback @crossi72,

Unfortunately, our understanding of a ‘good plugin’ in the context of regulatory compliance differs from your own. You define ‘good’ as ‘free’, while we define ‘good’ as ‘compliant’.

While any ‘real solution’ you are able to find that does not provide Autoblocking and Proof-of-Consent storage may be ‘free’, it is in all likelihood not ‘compliant’.

Wishing you and your customers the best of luck in your search.
