In reply to: Brinkster updated their mysql server and I have an error.P.S. But I still HATE Brinkster for their attitude about this, their total disregard for our situation, and general approach to their own patch-happy mistakes.
There’s a fine balance between customer service and security, and they pretty much just went way overboard on handling this one.

In reply to: Brinkster updated their mysql server and I have an error.Nazgul, yes I can definitely appreciate and understand why they would want to patch MySql to prevent a new exploit, and I get why they turned on the NO_BACKSLASH_ESCAPES mode in the first place.
However, once it’s been determined to really hose up a lot of their customers’ sites, it seems like they might consider turning it back off until they could upgrade to the new version, which gives us both security and compatibility with WordPress (we assume).

Turn NO_BACKSLASH_ESCAPES back off until they upgrade to 5.0.22 or B.) Hurry up and upgrade to 5.0.22 instead of waiting a week to do so.
Anyone else get any reply or have news on this subject?

In reply to: Apostrophes and Quotes Problem after 2.0.3 UpgradeNazgul, you are the winner!!!! Thank you so much. Brinkster is our host, so this is where the issue is. It just so happened they changed their server options without telling anyone right around the time we upgraded.
Just fired off an email to Brinkster.
Whenever we get our site working again, we’re going to have a ‘NAZGUL ROCKS’ post. Sound good?

Did both on the options, updated options, but no dice. Same errors on uploading and publishing. BTW, no plugins are activated at all.

Okay I tried that and it didn’t work. When I tried to activate I got a similar error. Here’s a screenshot of the error I got when I hit Activate.
I’ve also got a screenshot of what happens when I try to publish anything with an apostrophe or quote. This pretty much means we can’t have any HTML inside our posts.
