The order of the table columns is fixed by the order they appear in the form, but, what you want to do makes sense. I’m adding it to the list of things for the next major version.
For column widths I would use CSS. Try setting overflow to ‘hidden’.
How are you getting the form into a widget?

This has been requested before… I’ll add it as a feature for v2, but right now I’m only doing bug fixes for 1.6.
Try out the update, 1.6.27, the table should work like you are expecting.

I’m about to post an update (1.6.27) to address this. I’ve tested it in FF, Chrome, & Safari for Mac & PC, and IE 8 and 9.
