In reply to: Readers getting a blank pageI have the same problem after trying to upgrade to 2.2. I followed the WP Codex instructions – I thought – after going over them a few times and making so many backups manually and with the wp-db backup plugin that I am not sure which to use to restore my site.
I keep hoping someone can suggest a fix with the 2.2 files since, if I go back to 2.1.3 I will plan to stay there for some time.
The site is http://7colorlagoon.com/blog1
Any suggestions for fixes and suggestions for the easiest way to restore the old content would be appreciated. The process was so exhausting I have just left it down for the last day.
Is it possible to delete everything in sight, have the web host, PowWeb, install 2.2 as a fresh install and then return my content to it without just cut & paste?
I posted a similar question yesterday but either forgot to push “Send Post” or can’t find my bookmark so sorry if it is redundant.

In reply to: Starting a static home pageI should add that I could also be having a problem with my getting my new home.html to replace the Home.html code at the host which says the site administrator needs to learn site administration (basically). I tried to move my file to it and then edited the Home.html page of theirs. No luck so I replaced the original code while I wait for advice.
If it helps, my blog is at 7colorlagoon.com/blog1

In reply to: HTML file accessI thank you both. Question now — the host, PowWeb, installed WP. I had just finished migrating 200 posts in 2 blogs from Blogger via WP.com and finally chosen (and edited colors where I now know I shouldn’t have been) a really attractive theme, Water 3, an hour before 2.2 was announced.
It has taken too much time to immediately change versions which looks time-consuming.
Therefore, where can a download a copy of the last version of 2.1? Or do I use the ftp client, Cyberduck, to download copies of everything on the server?
You taught me a lot but I am still a bit confused — especially since reading the posts on changing to 2.2 convinced me I must learn how to back up everything to my machine ASAP. WP should label the File Editor a “Backend Editor” — even the stupidest of us could decide it wasn’t the best place to be putting things.
The results so far, as an aside, are at http://7colorlagoon.com/blog1/

In reply to: Installed WP by host; cannot login, access DashboardMoshu. Thank you much. I even read the support document a few times previously that advised spending time with the sample page to become familiar with it. I still didn’t manage to notice the “login” link. I knew it was something too dumb for words. It was kind of you not to mention that.
Much appreciated.
