Thanks!
The shortcode solution worked fine.
That solved the problem. Just so you know, mediatemple.net is another provider where localhost doesn’t work as the host name.
Here is a link to their knowledge base showing the format for host name, in case you want to add it to the FAQ.

In reply to: [mb.YTPlayer for background videos] 1.6.7 not working in safari and firefoxHi Matteo,
Thanks again for all your responses… No, I haven’t installed any such plugins or extensions. In a couple of days, I will actually upload the site as it is to a public server so you can take a look at it.
In the meantime, I get the following message in the Safari Error Console. I get the same error on my site, and in fact I also get it when I try to load your site. It’s not shown below, but the error counter keeps continuously rising while I’m on the page. Don’t know if this sheds any light on anything:
[Error] Unable to post message to http://www.youtube.com. Recipient has origin https://www.youtube.com.

In reply to: [mb.YTPlayer for background videos] 1.6.7 not working in safari and firefoxHi Matteo,
I have tried clearing the cache in both browsers, and actually your background video at http://pupunzi.open-lab.com/mb-jquery-components/jquery-mb-ytplayer/ doesn’t play for me in safari or firefox either, only in chrome.
I can’t send you the url, because the site is only on a local server right now, not on the web. I haven’t tried from a different computer for the same reason. What happens is no video plays–only the white background of the page.
I’m using OSX 10.8.5
Safari Version 6.1 (8537.71)
Firefox 25.0.1Thanks. I appreciate your time.

In reply to: [mb.YTPlayer for background videos] 1.6.7 not working in safari and firefoxHi Matteo,
Just noticed something else… If I set isinline=”true”, then in safari and firefox an inline still image from the video shows up, but it doesn’t autoplay (even though autoplay is set to “true”), and the inline controls don’t show up–there’s no way to get it to play.Again, it works fine in chrome with the above settings.
There’s no problem with the videos themselves–I’ve tried several from various channels. They all work in the player through chrome, none in firefox or safari.
I really like the plugin and it works great in chrome for me. If you have any insight into what have might have happened in safari and/or firefox, please let me know. Again, it did work in safari and firefox until I updated once, and now it seems completely broken in those browsers, even when I switch to different versions of the player.
Thank you.

In reply to: [mb.YTPlayer for background videos] 1.6.7 not working in safari and firefoxThanks for your response. I’m not sure what has happened but it continues to not work in safari and firefox for me, ever since I updated from 1.6.6 to 1.6.7. It works perfectly in chrome and was working in safari and firefox before the first update.
Now I’ve tried both 1.6.8 and older versions and it still doesn’t work except in chrome.
Any idea what has happened and why updating would have permanently broken the function in firefox and safari. No other changes were made beyond updating the plugin.
Thanks.

In reply to: [mb.YTPlayer for background videos] Not displaying properly in headway themeJust wanted to let you know I seem to have figured out the problem, or at least part of it. It has to do with the way headway sets up and mirrors content blocks.
As a drag and drop editor, Headway also lets one create a custom code block, and if I put the mb.YTPlayer shortcode generated for any particular page into one of those blocks, instead of keeping it in page or post content, it seems to work.
Still interested in more info about jquery.mb.YTPlayer-2.5.7. Thanks!

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone. This fix to .htaccess file worked for me.
Yes, I’m running other sites on my local server that are executing PHP without a problem. There seems to be something up with this particular site.
I’m wondering if you’ve seen an issue like this before…
It actually happens when I try to use another backup plugin too.
Any input would be appreciated…
Thanks again.
I am actually already using the developer version–that was one of the first things I tried.
Apache and PHP seem to be ok on my localhost server–I have other wordpress sites running. It must be something with this mediatemple site. Is this something I could submit a support ticket in order to get a closer look?
Thanks for your help.
Hi lifeinthegrid,
Thanks for your response… but it didn’t solve my problem. I commented out 24-68 in the installer and saved the new version before running, but after I run “deploy” in the installer window, it hangs between deploy and update and still tries to download the installer.php file.
It seems to go through the deploy process, but then I just get a blank white window under Step 1: Files and Database and “update” is still grayed out.
At least some of the files were downloaded to localhost, but if I try to access any of the php files, /localhost/site/wp-login.php, for instance, the browser also tries to download them. I can access .html and .css files through the browser after the incomplete deployment.
Again, this site is on mediatemple (gs) if there are any known issues with them.
Thanks.
PS I have contacted media temple and they could not identify any problem on their end.
Hi,
I am having exactly the same problem trying to clone a site hosted on mediatemple (gs) for editing on a localhost.
I have successfully used it for sites on other hosting providers.
I’ve tried some of the fixes suggested in other threads (using the developer’s version of duplicator for instance), but the error still occurs. It’s getting very frustrating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
