Yep – that’s a monty! (sorry – Australian slang = “that’s for sure”, or similar))
My main concern was the data (i.e., images and docs, etc in folders in the Image Gallery) would be over-written on WP up-date. But I have been assured that would not be the case….so, I will steam on.

Thank you for that. Yes the images/docs in the folders of the image library were my main concern.
So, basically I should go ahead and install plugins into the parent theme (twenty sixteen). I guess I do the basic formatting in parent, then make child of that formatted parent and customise the child theme using the css in various places…..correct…?
