So to get it working we had to download and replace the wp-includes and wp-admin folders, as well as the wordpress files from the root. We left the wp-content folder alone so it didn’t affect the live site.
All appears to be working fine now.
I have exactly the same issue. The website looks fine, but I can’t login to the backend and make changes…I did a restore of the public_html directory, no change…
