Well, I posted too soon.
I started deactivating my plugins 1 by 1, and low and behold, I had activated AJAXed WordPress yesterday (I guess) … last updated in 2009. Apparently it’s no longer compatible with the lastest WordPress … so, deactivated that and I got all my comments back!

Not sure what the problem was, but I basically started over and it works now. Probably just some obscure typing error or something…

No, I can see the access hit to the server, but no errors…
If I change to the classic or default theme, it works fine.
