I would agree w/chicky on the Coppermine structure,not a big fan. I ahave also used both for quite some time, and personally prefer gallery; especially when used/integrated into other apps (like pn or wp)
ryan is on the dot…I found out about this just last week when I removed the default theme and had not included the files in the new one…doh!
One can actually remove the comments ability from the blog altogether by simply removing a tag from the theme (if this is actually wanted):

E-Travel: wordpress wisely takes advantage of the power of CSS. If you are unfamiliar with working with css I strongly rec’mnd playing with it for a while. IMHO, it is very easy to learn; basics can be grasped in just a few minutes.
