    Actually that did not solve the problem but I believe I have found the root cause. For some reason there was a new rule in the IIS rewrite module causing calls to subsite pages to using the main site. Once I disabled that rule, everything began to work properly. I am not sure why that rule was even there. everything is now working as intended. thanks again.

    I think I have got things working again. I had to;
    1. log into the admin console of one of the subsites
    2. go to settings/General settings and reset the 2 URL addresses and save
    3. go to settings/permalink and set my common setting to postname again and save.
    4. go back to settings/General settings and and make sure the 2 URLs are still correct, if not correct again and save.

    Once I did this, all the subsites appear to be working properly again. I am not really sure what is going on but everything appears to be working fine now. very odd. Thank you for the suggestion Jacob @smithjw1

    Agreed. I am a bit stuck as to what I can do here. I will try the permalink change.
    I think I am also going to create a new subsite and see if a instance will have the same problem. Otherwise I am at a loss as to what happened.

    A few weeks? really? That seems like a long time for a bug that renders the plugin completely useless.
