Sorry @murphy18241 that you are having problems. Hope you haven’t abandoned your efforts. Obviously you are frustrated. Please know that we’ve all been there and it can seem like a cold, lonely place. I’ve been a programmer since the mid 80’s and have seen it all. Are you old enough to remember DLL hell on Windows? I’ve had equally frustrating issues on other development platforms. So yes, I feel your pain.

@danielfonda offered you some simple but rock-solid advice. Many of my frustrating WP problems have been resolved by simply calming down and rethinking each of the components he listed. And yes, a very supportive community is available to you online, as @wpyogi suggested. Hopefully, someone there can offer you some immediate advice. (IMHO, I would refrain from thrashing WP in your posts. You’ll increase the likelihood of a reply.)

For the future check out, if you haven’t already, WordPress meetup groups in your area. Or go to a WordCamp. They are definitely worth traveling to. In addition to fabulous presentations by top WP talent, these events offer Happiness Bars where WP experts take the time to help you resolve your problems. Awesome!!!

Whatever you do, just keep the faith. You’ll be glad that you did.
