Thanks for the help guys as you pointed me in the right direction and I ended up going into my theme and disabling the “automatically insert thumbnail” setting so that what I pick for a featured image is not inserted in my post. That way I can insert my own thumbnail that looks like it belongs. You guys are awesome!
