I was so caught up in the notion that it was a page that I had used for the footer and NOT a post, that I had totally neglected to try the obvious! I used some code similar to what you suggested & it worked.

The first thing I did was check all the settings and it is set to show on posts only.
I’ve tried asking on the themes forum but I haven’t had much luck. Julie I’d rather not touch the php files if possible- although I’m fairly comfortable with HTML & CSS at this stage, php is still complete double Dutch! But I will try if I cant find any other solution…

In reply to: amazon showcase plug-in not showing booksOk, i figured this out myself… eventually. As usual, it was quite a simple thing:
the so called optional amazon affiliate ID & secret key doesnt appear to be optional.
Once i entered this info in the plug-ins settings, the images came up as expected.
Phew.

Right so I’m not 100% sure I did what you asked correctly, as I said, I’m still pretty new at this and finding my way around all this stuff is still a bit of a challenge.
I found the category.php (it wasnt under the theme file, but in the ‘wp-includes’ file). I tried changing the name, and when I clicked on a category link on my website & it gave me a fatal error message. So I just changed it back.
Not sure what that tell us (and if I haven’t done it right please let me know!).
