Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Error establishing database connectionThis may not be of much help, but it could be your host.
I can’t find the post, but I saw a similar problem last week and it turned out the person was using godaddy.com as a host and their sql wasn’t localhost but something like mysql.localhost.server.
Check with your host to see what the correct sql server is if indeed localhost is causing the problem.
Or perhaps someone else in this support group can offer some aid.
Hope this helps a bit.

In reply to: ConfusedI have had the problem in the past and found it was the format of the database password. i.e. too many characters, invalid characters, etc…
Try a shorter password if your current one is more than 14 characters.
Hope this helps.

In reply to: RSS Problem in 1.5Hey Thanks for the help guys. Sure did fix me up with the feeds from my 1.5 sites.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: RSS Problem in 1.5Although I am experiencing the same problems as have been covered in several posts here, the one that gets me is:
I have a site using drupal and when adding news feeds with the aggregator from my wordpress 1.5 sites only one feed shows up.
When adding a feed from one of my free blog client sites using WPMU all of the feeds show up.
You can see what I mean at http://gnuker.com
How can I get all the feeds to show up from WP 1.5 Strayhorn like with WPMU?

In reply to: WordPress Multi User SupportForgive the intrusion, as I know this isn’t the forum for support of WPmu. It is my hope more people will get on board and support the project as it will only aid the evolution of WordPress as the standard for all Blog/Weblog Applications for generations to come!
For those of you that wish to enhance your ability to promote WordPress, I can’t say enough about the project and it’s future over at WordPressMU, http://blogs.linux.ie/support/

In reply to: Small Bug – Advanced Editing on New PostAs long as you have multiple categories, you will have a choice in a drop down menu on the default categories choice. Be sure you update the page using the update options button (WP1.5)
I just changed my default and returned it to the original without problems.

Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Announcement: BlogMine.com – Plugin for RSS and Blog Text AdsI tried them, but the code is javascript. Aside from that it slows down my pageloads too much to satisfy me.
Another thought too is I saw a post about how most bloggers are the least likely to click on an ad to begin with.
I’m sticking with Adsense, though. I’m using the adsense plugin.
I got it using the Plugin Manager in 1.5.With that you can place an ad on the post(s) of your choice and not forced to have one on each post you make.
It’s a Quicktag you can add when writing a post. It defaults to the left so when I use it, I place it within <center></center> tags to make it look better. If you wanna see, go to http://celerity.gnuker.com.
Nothing fancy, just getting started with a personal blog of my own.

In reply to: Todays worst spamming address: www.nutzu.comAs I know there are spammers that range in the thousands, but I’ve come acrossed one with tracks. He’s 14, from Houston and seems to have quite a reputation, especially after a routine Google search.
The little ferret wanted a free blog from me, but as done with all, I checked him out a bit. Yeah, right. He wins! Not in this lifetime.
I’d give you his known names, but should he peruse this forum, it’d only cause him to change to new ones so I’m unsure how this is really going to help anyone.
Someday, just wanna nail ’em all in the town square for all to see.

In reply to: Announcement: BlogMine.com – Plugin for RSS and Blog Text AdsBlogmine vs Adsense?
Feedback, please.
I signed up and they are still to finish their site.
Do you want ads on every post? I’d rather post ads to particular posts myself.

In reply to: Can I pop my nav bar into index.php blogI’m using:
Plugin Name: Admin Bar Plugin
Version: 0.5 epsilon
Plugin URI: http://www.mattread.com/tweaks/wp-admin-bar/that is placed just under
<body>
<?php admin_bar(); ?>in your header/sidebar, etc.. depending on the theme you use.
Not sure if this is the type of thing you are referring to, but it really makes things easy for you, as admin, and for your users. It gives users menu items depending on level assigned.
