In reply to: Adding the read more tagI have read it, but don’t understand it. I understand the basic concept” To add a more quicktag in your post, put your cursor where you want to end the excerpted content of your post and click the more quicktag button. quicktags are the little buttons found above the editing window in your Administration > Write > Post SubPanel. They include bold, italic, links, and others, and the famous more.
I insert the more button, but nothing changes. So I must be missing a step after that.

In reply to: Second wp siteBrand new to WordPress myself, so not sure my opinion is that great. One thing that confused me is that I think the tabs below (such as location map) should be clickable without having to click on the “more” button. But maybe that’s just me.

In reply to: Editing code in a child themeThanks, esmi. I don’t understand that at all so I will just leave it alone. I though I had asked that question before….I probably gave the same answer as well.

In reply to: Adding adsense to my archive pagesProblem solved–I went into the QuickAdsense settings and change them. I already had “archives” checked under the appearance list, but I then also clicked a couple other tabs so one of them must have done the job! Thanks for your help.

In reply to: Adding adsense to my archive pagesWell then I really don’t understand. How do I add the horizontal ads in? Should I just wipe it out and do the archive page over?

In reply to: Adding adsense to my archive pagesI guess I should be more clear—still learning these terms. If you go to my home page at thecatholictravelblog.com and then click on “Category” drop-down menu under subjects that takes you to the archives and those are the pages I am referring to. Of course, being a new blog the archives are the same as the latest posts at the moment.

In reply to: Adding adsense to my archive pagesThe archive pages show one Adsense ad, the vertical. They don’t show the two horizontal ads that you see on my other pages. Hope that makes sense.

In reply to: Website complete changed after install on WinhostThanks Gabriel, I will see if that works. I need to find the file first, I am such a beginner that I don’t even know how to do that, but I appreciate your help.

In reply to: Editing code in a child themeThanks. I don’t know css and so will just leave it alone for now. I hope to get comfortable enough with WordPress so that I can have my main site at http://www.thecatholictravelguide.com on WordPress also. Right now it is with Intuit and I did not feel confident enough to try to design it with WordPress. I did buy Headway Themes but have not tried to learn it yet.

In reply to: Editing code in a child themeThanks esmi.
I will remember the CTRL+F5 next time. Can you tell me how I might change the font on the right where is shows previous posts? I would like it more noticeable–either bold or black font color–but I don’t see a way to edit that.

In reply to: Background colorThanks for the advice—I had no idea what a child theme was much less how important it was. Will try to create one.
As far as the color goes, I am not sure what you mean. I guess that is somewhere in the code, but I am reluctant to touch it since I know zip about coding. But I will try to figure it out.

In reply to: Adsense ThemesI guess I am still confused as to what theme to use. I can afford a premium theme if under $80 if that makes a difference. Perhaps someone can suggest one. My goal is:
1. Drag and Drop editing.
2. Create the same look (heading, etc.) on all 600 pages of my website.
3. Easy to change content on pages.
4. Add a forum and blog.
5. Easily seen on mobile devices. It seems that I first need to select the right theme and stick with it. So that is where I am right now. I have one that I am working with right now: http://thecatho.w13.wh-2.com/wordpress/
Can’t quite get the layout right, but maybe I need to learn how to use a drag and drop editor. Here is my current site that I want to change to WordPress: http://www.thecatholictravelguide.com

In reply to: Adsense ThemesThanks. The books get good and bad reviews so I will do my research carefully.
