I’ve discovered by a bit of experimentation that this only applies to this specific custom post type. Neither regular posts nor other custom post types are experiencing the same issue.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that if a post is created and initially published, it shows up on the Pending list if it is changed to pending. A post initially created as pending will not show up on the list, however.

I’ve taken a look directly at the database, and the pending and trash posts do exist, and they look fine. When I delete a currently published post, the Trash total increments, but I still see the “No classifieds found in Trash” when I attempt to view the list.
