I am having the same issue after i was automatically upgraded to WordPress 3.9.3. Everything was working fine before. Now all i see is a spinning clock dial.
I followed the instructions as listed above (Created the API credential) and re-verified the calendar was public (it was before as it worked in the older version of the Widget)
