In reply to: Whitescreen on Firefox and unable to access admin after 4.9.6 updateI’ve managed to fix this through restoring a backup of my site with help from my host. I suspect the update didn’t install properly as I’m now still runing 4.9.6 without any issues (so far)

In reply to: White screen after 4.4.2 update and image issues…I asked my host to restore a backup. My site is about 3gb in size but after the update it was only 7mb – almost all content deleted.
Could anyone please help explain or advise as to how this might have happened and what steps I should take to prevent it happening again (other than disabling updates)?

In reply to: White screen after 4.4.2 update and image issues…I’ve searched in my file manager for that image file and it no longer exists on my hosting site. I’ve also searched for some others e.g. DSC03648.jpg and I can’t find any on my hosting account.
Can anyone tell me what directories I should be browsing for my posts and photos please? Then I can have a look. My host (name.com) has account backups, I may have to back up a version form a week ago and then manually update? Would that be a sensible approach?

No files in that directory in my cpanel file manager – looks like the wordpress update might have deleted a lot of my content? No image files on my site now.
Where do I look for the posts and text?

I really don’t understand why an update would delete my content – or am I misunderstanding where it’s re-filed things?

In reply to: White screen after 4.4.2 update and image issues…Hi Jomsky, the update was performed automatically and the problems were caused then (white screen, no themes and plugins). I could get to the dashboard, looked to updates and tried to re-install the update, which seemed to work but didn’t fix the problems. I copied a theme in by creating each directory manually and copies files into each directory and the site now loads but the media library has broken image symbols.
Thanks for any suggestions to fix.
Where should my images be in the directory structure? So I can check if they’re still there – I have thousands of pictures on the site
