I have the same issue, using the latest stable WP and plug-in.
I have determined the cause of the problem. I’m using WPML to maintain pages in two languages and the Dutch version is contact?lang-nl so I though the English versino could be just ‘contact’ but I was mistaken.
I’m using the WPML plug-in and it’s the bee’s knees 😀
