ok I finally got it!
it happened that I had to change the prefix of the wp_ databases when I imported them in the new hosting
BUT there are a few entries within the tables for which you have to update the prefix:
wp_user_roles entry in the wp_options table
all the wp_*** (wp_capabilities, wp_user_level, etc) entries in the wp_usermeta table
