I couldn’t resolve using both.
I switched to https://librarika.com to handle the library and ran it in an iframe in the site. not as pretty, but it works.

it is woo commerce. i see the dashboard now that i deactivated woo commerce.
so i guess i’ll have to find a different plugin if woo commerce is incompatible

Included is a screen shot.
On the right hand side is a safari window where I am logged in as admin
On the left is chrome signed in as wptester (with role librarian)
So all i can ever see is the regular website.
even if i go through the wordpress login it just takes me to the ‘my account’ page
