    Hi Adam,

    I have now found the solution.

    I have another WordPress website using the same plugins where Analytics and consent mode are working correctly. I compared the settings and noticed that the consent mode configuration there was the opposite of the setup we tested:

    – Site Kit Consent Mode: disabled
    – Real Cookie Banner Google Consent Mode: enabled
    – Google Tag Manager integration in Real Cookie Banner: enabled
    – Services are loaded using “Google Tag Manager with Google Consent Mode”

    I have now applied exactly the same configuration to the affected website and Analytics tracking is working again immediately, including the real-time report.

    So in my case, enabling Site Kit’s consent mode and disabling the CMP’s consent mode did not work, while letting Real Cookie Banner handle consent mode does.

    Hi Adam,

    I have now disabled the Google Consent Mode setting in Real Cookie Banner and left Consent Mode enabled in Site Kit, as you suggested.

    I then tested the website on a different device (Chrome on my tablet in incognito mode), explicitly accepted the cookies/consent banner and visited the website. However, I still don’t see the visit in the Analytics real-time report.

    Interestingly, I can now see that Analytics did receive some data yesterday (6 users, 11 views and 29 events), presumably during our troubleshooting/testing. These weren’t visible to me in the real-time report yesterday, but have since appeared in the regular Analytics reports. So apparently some data is reaching GA4, but real-time tracking still doesn’t seem to work reliably.

    Could you please check the site again with Tag Assistant and confirm whether consent is now being granted correctly to the Analytics tag?

    thank you very much for checking this.

    Just to clarify: I am not using Cookiebot. I am using Real Cookie Banner by devowl.io (currently version 5.2.28).

    I think your finding regarding consent not being granted to the Google tag could be very relevant.

    Consent Mode was enabled in Google Site Kit, but Real Cookie Banner also has its own Google Consent Mode functionality enabled. Therefore, there may indeed be a conflict between the two consent mode implementations.

    Before changing anything further, could you please confirm which configuration you would recommend in this case?

    Would you suggest that I:

    • keep Consent Mode enabled in Site Kit, and
    • disable Google Consent Mode in Real Cookie Banner,

    while continuing to use Real Cookie Banner itself for obtaining the user’s consent?

    I would prefer not to replace the CMP if this can be resolved by avoiding the duplicate Consent Mode implementation, especially since this setup previously worked and Analytics data was received until approximately the end of May.
