    Hello,

yes, I tried everything I could: the “favicon.ico” was previously put into the /htdocs directory already.
Nothing of nothing. It doesn’t read it, not Safari, nor Firefox.

Sorry for the messy layout of my previous message – the right link to the instructions page is this:

    Thanx

Ok, I’ll manage to read the plugin docs and hope it’s technically possible to just revamp that missing one.
…But – in any case: the multi-site WP shouldn’t create such kind of problems. I mean: if I erase a couple of unused “first test” sub_sites, I shouldn’t find – as a “collateral damage” – another whole good sub_site erased from the DB ! I didn’t do anything else but that.
    (Thank You for the support.)

    Hello Ms. Mika,

yes – as I stated before: I do have that backup. But: how to proceed to restore it ?
And… should I backup ALL the multisite structure (main + 3 subs) or only the missing sub-site #2 ? What’s the procedure ?

    Thank You.

    Ehm… Hello again.

As I stated in the first comment: I am developing the multi-site locally on a AMPPS virtual server right on my Mac.

So: I should restore the DB myself, but… how to do it ? (Thank you).
ps. I don’t have any idea why erasing two other unused sub-sites could have affected the loss of the good sub_2 one:

is that anyhow possible ? and is that possible to restore only the lost one ? or should I re-charge the whole multisite DB ?

(Unfortunately) I’m here again. I checked exactly what You suggested with the link:

on my PhPMyAdmin page, on the left there’s the WP Multisite (only) database, with its #3 subs (#0 main + #2 #5 and#6)
There’s a scary thing: if I open the drop down list on the left it gives me all the directories of the disappeared “wp_2” missing sub site, that is:

    wp_2+commentmeta/comments/links/ngg_album/ngg_gallery/options/postmeta/posts/terms/term_relationships/term_taxonomy ;

…but – at the same time – there’s is not any wp_2 content inside ! (and into the page there’s not any wp_2 reported in the list of contents ! ).

If I click on the left side over one voice of the list I get this warning:

    #1146 – Table ‘xyz.wp_2_posts’ doesn’t exist,

…and so forth for all the other voices of the sub-database.

I remember 2 days ago I erased two other unused/test sub-sites (#3 and #4): could that affect the involuntary erase of the #2 ?? (but how ?!)

Now: I have the backups (as I’m using the “Updraft” plugin): is that possible to re-insert the wp_2 sub-site ?
How to operate this ? Can you suggest a protocol to follow ? Any link/tutorial ?

    Thanks !

Thank You very much MS. Epstein !

I’ll check it out, hoping to rise again my sub-site.

(by the way: in Finland “Mika” is a masculine name ; ))

    Hello Mr. Epstein,

well… how to do it ? Could you please suggest me a link to a tutorial or a webpage where to read about the correct actions be to performed ?

    Thank You !

    Hello WP Sirs,

I guess I’m having a similar problem: I used to build 2 websites locally with MAMP 1.0, and now I upgraded to MAMP 2.2.

Now the problem is: when I write on the browser :

    localhost:8888/mywebsitefolder/wp-admin

I don’t get anymore the “username” & “password” log in page, BUT it brings me again the installation page, with these:

Site Title / Username (“User(s) already exists”) / Your E-mail / Privacy fields.

If I digit onto the “Set Title” the old website name, I get this warning:

    “Please provide a valid username.”

So, I don’t know how to get back to the log in page of my website anymore !
    What should I do ?

    Thank You, Best regards.

    Hello again Mr. Epstein !

Well, I suppose it’s a good choice to make easier steps before pretending to run ! Also: I considered that in this case the sub-domains should not be managed independently from each user, but supervised/managed by the multiweb administrator himself.
I think I found my choice to start with. Subfolders
Once again : Thank You !

    All the best

    Good morning Mr. Epstein,

well – I’m a newbie (I’m practicing from scratch), so I exactly have no idea about the different approach and technical complexities of the 2 structures (as I read from the “Before You Create a Network” advice here).
Well, if You could suggest a couple of links to let me reflect how and why one choice is more suitable/easier to build + manage for my little structure (the sub-sites won’t be more than 10), I’ll be glad.

    All my best.
