In reply to: Two year old site now showing installation screenJust fill out the info and set it up again…you’ll have a new blog, but then you can determine what happened to your original stuff without leaving your site open to someone else installing and using it.
[Edit] True, the tables are there…I didn’t actually try to install it since it wasn’t my blog 😉

In reply to: Two year old site now showing installation screenCould be several things, but first you need to remove the install screen before someone else installs it. Then check your wp-config.php and make sure, first it’s still there, and second, it contains the correct db info. If so, try repairing your db.

In reply to: Can’t drag widgetsThe Screen Options button does not respond either.
Have you tried reinstalling 2.8? You can do that in Tools/Upgrade…just backup first.

In reply to: Can’t drag widgetsFor the widgets problem…try going to the widgets screen, click Screen Options and Click Enable Accessability mode.
For the image upload problem, try using the Browser Uploaded instead of the Flash Uploader.

In reply to: Cannot find URL after making a change in itHow can I uninstall and reinstall WordPress? I’ve tried but I don’t know how to remove the current installed one from the database which must be removed before I can reinstall it again.
Just open your wp-config.php file and find the table prefix. If is probably set to wp_ change that to something else, like 123_ and save the file. Then visit your site url and you will be prompted to install. You will have a clean install when you do this.
By the way, 2.5.1 is old…you should go ahead and install 2.8 if you are wanting a clean, new install.

In reply to: Error establishing a database connection after DB repairedTry creating a new user and adding it to the db, then change the user in the config file. Sounds strange that a repair would impact your connection, but you may want to check out the following video anyway.
