Thanks for your “honest” review then. So let me sum it up.

1- You download the plugin and installed it
2- The plugin works perfectly and you seem to like it
3- You deleted all posts and re-import them and it will not import the posts it has already uploaded in the past.
4- You are complaining about the plugin not re-importing the posts it has imported in the past and me not helping you to fix that (which is how this plugin works to avoid duplicate posts, otherwise, it would be re-importing the posts you delete and really don’t want to keep, everytime. So there would be no way to delete a post at all because it will get re-imported on the next cronjob run).
5- I took time from my Sunday to help you with a couple of suggestions without knowing exactly why this is happening in your system.
6- You now state, the plugin doesn’t work properly .
7- All this has been for free, I mean absolutely FREE. BUT for some reasons, you think you are entitle to this.

    Now from my perspective:

1- I’m taking my valuable time from my Sunday to help you use a plugin that you are using for free , I go a step further to suggest a couple of things to fix your issue that has absolutely nothing to do with the functionality of the plugin itself (the plugin has a robust mechanism to avoid duplicated posts and this is how it works) , if you took 2 minutes to check the support forum, you would have found the answer to your question here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/re-import-feeds?replies=6 , it’s on the first page of the support forum and the suggestion worked for the person. I made a couple of extra suggestions just to make sure that you cover all possibilities, and all you understood was: Log in to your phpmyadmin to delete your post because that’s what you choose to understand.

And the next thing you did was to leave a dishonest review with 1-star and you call this honest.

Just for the records, You are using a free plugin, and asking me to provide premium support but you are not ready to investigate what’s happening on your own blog… because it’s simply easier to blame the plugin and the plugin author than to try a couple of things suggested or check the support forum if someone has posted a similar question.

Like I said, you are one of those people making me re-consider my decision to provide any advanced support at all on the free version of this plugin…Premium users don’t rush and leave 1-star when something doesn’t work the way they wish and neither do users who really plan to pay for the plugin, and I actually don’t mind if this kind of users (rushing to leave 1-star reviews) don’t use my plugin or pay for the premium version at all (trust me, it’s not worth the headaches and stress they bring on the table, it’s really NOT worth it). Good luck with the next plugin you will use as replacement/alternative.

If you have a premium key, drop me an email to receive the pre-release version with this fix or have some patience and wait a couple of days for the official release of the 2.0.18 version with an insane amount of improvements. Should probably be out in the next couple of days.

    Plugin Author feedsapi

    (@feedsapi)

Yes, send me an email so I can send you the next release candidate with an improvement for this (along with several other improvements) , if you have a premium RSS Key, if not, please wait a couple of days and the 2.0.18 should be out asap with all those fixes.

Originally it would be great to have the imported post titles link to the feed’s {permalink} and not my website. I didn’t see that in the settings to do that, but it sure would be great!

Great suggestion, made it to our roadmap.

Not really surprised, this person doesn’t know how to delete a post, how to check a database, how to flush the cache of a caching plugin and is not interested to hire a person who knows how to do those things. He wants to RE-Import articles and the plugin has a duplicated post security, but he doesn’t even know how to delete the old posts properly and prefer to blame the plugin, here’s the support thread for you to see and judge for yourself: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/cant-re-import-feeds?replies=10

These are the people pushing me to simply ditch the free support at some point, he’s getting and using an amazing plugin for free and asking the developer to work on top of that for him and behave like he’s entitle to get all of that stuff, and then give the plugin 1-star for his own incompetence to properly delete posts. I saw this coming, these are the folks making developers abandon their plugins.

He went so far as to send me a private email (service normally only reserved to Premium users) and got a reply almost in realtime…and this is the outcome and thank you notice.

It looks like you didn’t read my answers at all or you only understand what you wish to understand.

You don’t need to login anywhere, you need to know what’s wrong with your blog…or hire someone to find out. Of course, if you think the plugin doesn’t work, you can blame the problem on someone else….so if it helps you to believe it doesn’t work, I’m ok with that.

Fo the record 45 000+ installs , 6 000 + active users and growing for a plugin that doesn’t work isn’t bad, so like I said, if it helps you to blame the issue with your blog on my plugin, I’m fine with that and done with this.

And for the records, here’s your original support request:

I have ran into a problem with importing feeds. I can import feeds once, but once I do, no edits can be made and they can’t be deleted and re-imported. As an example, suppose I import a feed under the uncategorized category. If I want to change the category, it won’t update. So then I delete the feed and try to add the feed again. It will not re-import the same feed twice. I have gone into my posts and deleted those. I also have uninstalled RSS Post Importer completely and then re-installed it. It still won’t let me re-import the same feed again.

So it states, it does work but will not re-import the same feed twice: This is how it works to avoid duplicate content . You need to make sure, you have really deleted the feeds you want to re-import, how you do that is up to you or hire a freelancer to help you really delete your posts (our duplicated posts detection system is very robust to avoid any false/positives). Blaming the plugin because you don’t know how to do something on your blog will make you feel better but will definitely NOT help you, Period.

A different option would be to just remove the plugin and write your own or use a different plugin “that works” .

    Hello Mark, please STOP !

I don’t want to take my help in this direction, I don’t expect you or anybody to pay for anything at all.

I’m trying to help you and you are asking me to help you solve an issue that has more to do with your blog setup and backend than the plugin, if the plugin won’t import the same post, it means it has detected duplicated posts on our system….

How you fully delete existing post in your system is not something we provide help for, I tried my best to guide you, the next step would be to do it myself in your system BUT I don’t do that and it’s actually forbid by wordpress for me to ask you to share guest admin access for me to fix it + I simply don’t do that, no time, too risky and ingratitude from people you try to help even if you’re helping them for free, they start behaving like they are entitle to get your help for free so: I just don’t do that.

I understand your frustration and will recommend to hire a freelancer to check your blog and make sure the posts that are supposed to have been deleted are really deleted and not stored in your database or somewhere in your cache. Again: Hire a Freelancer if you don’t know how to check your database or watch some youtube videos. Sorry, but that’s the best help I can provide for your issue.

DDisclaimer: I take no responsability for any damage you may do in your system , so take my following suggestions as what they are: suggestions.

To see if the posts are still in your database, you can log into your Database phpmyadmin panel, (assuming you are using php my admin…if not, simply log into the admin section of your database from whatever software your host is using) , and look for the articles, make sure you know what you are doing or hire a freelancer to do it for you if you don’t know what you are doing.

Regarding caching cleaning, it depends on the Caching plugin you are using, the good ones have an option to empty the cache, so you should open the caching plugin menu and search for that option. This is something specific to your own wordpress installation, all the plugin does is to make sure , an existing post imported by the plugin doesn’t get imported a second time, I hope this helps.

    Plugin Author feedsapi

    (@feedsapi)

The plugin has a very robust duplicate post security, so you need to make sure the imported articles are really deleted (not stored in your database, in the thrash or stored somewhere by your cache in your system ) . From what you describe, I’ll say the articles are still in your system and not fully deleted, so tryvto find where and delete them.

The best place to start would be your thrash folder, then check if you have a cache plugin and pjrge the cache, or check your DB.

Nope, it depends on what he person has on their .htaccess , but if someone is taking this step, it’s probably best to respect it and avoid using any work-around.

You could shoot the publisher an email asking for permission, and they may allow you to fetch the content

    Hi Tripledm,

Would you mind sharing which “full of bugs” you are talking about ?

The premium features are paid, no full free lunch all over the place here ( I have no VC money in the bank laying around so I can do it all premium fetures for free and make it sustainable), you have 3 options:

1- Create your own plugin and work your ass on it for free and we will see how long it can last.

2- Use the free version without the premium features ( It’s FREE ) , you normally say Thank you when you get something for FREE.

3- Look for a different solution.

This plugin exists because there’re are premium paying users and the free version works perfectly and probably has 1 or two bugs, that’s how softwares work: They happen to have bugs now and then, even Microsoft and Google , + BigCo with 1000’s of software engineers write softwares with bugs at th end of the day and they get fixed over time.

Anyway, thank you for stopping by and would really like to know about the bugs you discovered.

Please check the plugin website: http://www.rsspostimporter.com and also watch the videos tutorial again, I will folow up shortly with a link to our tutorial but you can also find it on the landing page of the plugin here.

Please to make sure to have the latest version of the plugin installed and keep in mind some of the features are premium features. If you still have open questions, please follow up here and tell me exactly what you’d like to do.

There’s a ton of support info and videos except for an example of putting this in WP via page or post.

Hi Netposer, thank you very much for reaching out. The plugin doesn’t support what you just described but it’s on our roadmap.
