I´ve got the same problem on my site farmaciaribera.es. In my case, a wrong configuration in htaccess was the problem.
It´s better not to edit the htaccess if you are not an expert
Forum and wordpress are not the same account!
If they say it isn´t a valid email format is because your are not giving the right format:
xxxxx@mail.com
Remember that in this step you should write your mail adress, not your username.

You should ask your hosting. They have blocked uploading files for some reason
