I’ve tried that as well and it doesn’t work in WP 2.8.
I’d love to hear of a fix as I want to add a customised login to the sidebar in my site. I don’t want to use the sidebar login widgets as they’re difficult to style.

It’s a good plug-in but a bit too much for what I’m trying to achieve as all the extra options could confuse my client. What I’d like to do is to be able to ‘switch off’ or hide the category section for logged in users with something a bit less intrusive.
Expression Engine has facilities for assigning categories to members and stopping them from posting in other categories, it’d be great if WordPress had something similar.
I’ve had a good look around but can’t see anything that does this so I’m probably going to have to use Role Scoper.
