Thanks for your help. I’ve activated the Simple Custom CSS plug-in and I added your code to the Simple Custom CSS page under Appearance. When that didn’t work I went to to style.css under Editor, but there is a whole list of templates in the right sidebar, none of which is for the Title, and the Twentyfourteen stylesheet has many pages of code and I haven’t a clue as to where to add the code you gave me. If you have any further help, I’d appreciate it.

Good morning! Thank you for the help, but I’m confused about your saying that the title is white. When viewed on my desktop both the site title and tag line are the same color, black. I realize this may be some computer issue, but I don’t quite understand why they are the same color on my computer screen, but one is a different color (white, hence invisible) on my mobile device.
Part of my question is because I’ve never used CSS, and I’m worried that it may change how my title is viewed on a desktop.

I am having the same issue as you are. All the wordpress support topics seem to indicate that there should be a “Links” section on the dashboard and a links widget. But there aren’t either in my version of wordpress, downloaded about a week ago.
