Hmmmm I guess I’m a tad confused as to why it’s not working. What i’d have you test first is make sure that the page you’re putting the code on isn’t setup as your blog page. To do that go to Settings > Reading in the admin of wordpress and make sure that the Front Page is the page with the post tiles and that Posts Page is something different or left at -select-.

patchworkcloud it’s a little tricky but if you’re willing to poke around here’s what i’d suggest. Open the post-tiles.php file and look at line 560. It should look something like this…

Basically it first checks to see if featured images are turned on from the settings page. Then if it is get the thumbnail.

WordPress allows you to use an array to get the dimensions of the images so you can change the array(100,100) etc. Those values dynamically pulled from the settings page. So that’s where you get the images and they get assigned to the background of the li. You can change that and put the image wherever you want. Then use some snazzy CSS and javascript to make it appear correctly.

Somewhere around line 570 you should see where it starts to build the list items.

Thats basically where all the puzzle pieces get assembled. I did my best to document each step along the way so read the comments to get an idea of what’s happening.

But responsive design can be very tricky especially if the images aren’t all the same sizes.

Frederick Townes did you run into the same issue? I didn’t hear back from prabu.venkat so I’m not sure what caused it.

Just as an FYI background-size isn’t supported in IE8. So though it’s a good solution it can alienate some users.
