It’s not exactly what you’re looking for, but the Unveil Lazy Load plugin (by Daisuke Maruyama) makes the loading lighter.. at least on desktop Firefox. (For me it didn’t work on Android mobile browsers or Chrome on OS X..)
Other lazy load scripts don’t seem to cooperate with this plugin at all, complete functionality / compatibility could maybe be added..?

Oh I figured it out!
It is very easily added to folder-gallery/js/fg-fancybox.js
Should’ve thought of checking there before… :p

I stumbled upon http://snazzymaps.com and checked your FAQ, but my javascript is not that good.. :/
How would you access the map + set the style array exactly? Could you please post an example?
