In reply to: can't edit posts/pages or add mediaHey Nick,
were you at some point able to post and add media, or has it been like this from the moment you installed WordPress?
Sounds like you tried rearranging your folders on the server. If so: Of course it broke your site.
You should consider thinking about what paths you would like *before* installing WordPress, not after. You could just reinstall the software.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [P2] P2 Comment with 'Seen at hh:mm' like FacebookYou might want to ask your question in the Plugins and Hacks subforum, not in Themes and Templates.
The error froze the whole backend, meaning I couldn’t make any changes in wp-admin any more, since I would end up with the same error message after hitting “save”. The frontend was fine, as far as I recall.
I had a deadline, of course, so I moved on to another widget. Sorry I can’t tell you more as a result.Forum: Themes and Templates

In reply to: Enable Mobile View on TabletsChrystal, I’m exactly like you in that I trashed all the media queries of my parent theme and styled my website from scratch. Because adjusting an already responsive theme to an entirely new content really is a pain.
What Andrew said is a good tip to get you started. The mobile-first approach is indeed one way to go, and a lot of professionals choose to build websites that way nowadays. Just work yourself up, breakpoint by breakpoint, from smallest to biggest viewport widths. (This means, you’ll be putting
min-widthin media queries rather thanmax-width.)
You won’t need a lot of these breakpoints either. Even if, for some reason, Twenty Fourteen has 12 or 14 (!) of them: two or three breakpoints usually suffice.Forum: Themes and Templates

In reply to: [Reddle] Centre Footer-Widgets verticallyJust adjust the padding on
#supplementaryto something you like. Remember thatmargin-toponasideandpadding-topon#supplementaryneed to add up to the same value as yourpadding-bottomon#supplementary.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Reddle] Centre Footer-Widgets verticallyYour combination of margin and padding adds up to different values for creating top and bottom space. Your padding-bottom on
#supplementaryis3.23em. So how about this?#supplementary{ padding:2.23em 2.5% 3.23em 2.5%; } div#supplementary aside:nth-child(1n+1){ margin:1em 0 0 0; }2.23em padding-top + 1em margin-top = 3.23em

In reply to: Stop page jumpI’m afraid your issue isn’t that easily fixed. You might be well advised to ask around your friends if someone knows how to handle these kinds of things and is willing to take a look at it. Else, if you can’t wait, you should consider hiring someone to do it for you.

In reply to: Margins and Paddings / Box ModelStell Dir vor, Du möchtest Geschenk verpacken. Dein Geschenk wird der
contentDeiner Paket-Box.
Your gift will be the
contentof your package-box. In order to keep your gift safe, you’re wrapping it into newspaper. The newspaper is yourpadding. You then put your gift into a package, which has cardboard (or gift wrap)borders.
When transporting your present, you’re wary it’d not be crushed by other objects, so you’re putting those other objects away, giving your present amargintowards them.—-
As for your question about borders: In CSS3, you can determine how your boxes size should be affected by the border. See this:

Now the picture you linked to is about a concept that is called “collapsible margins”. And believe you me: You don’t want to go there, lol. I’m not sending you any links on this. I won’t be what’s causing your nightmares tonight. 8)
