In reply to: My website has disappeared. Where has my content gone?Hi WPyogi,
It was originally a wordpress.com site but only for a few days while I got to grips with wordpress.org when I transferred it over. It’s been a wordpress.org site for a couple of years. I use a theme that I bought from WP Zoom and the site looks like a food magazine with lots of content.
I use DreamHost, so am not sure why it’s asking me now to change the nameserver to wordpress.com (unless it’s asking me to register the site now as a new site – and does that mean all the content is lost?)
By the way, I did get an email in January from DreamHost saying my server was moved to Putnam, but I don’t think it happened because my details are still on DreamHost and my website was still up and running until recently (and my other website is fine too) so I’m not sure if that has anything to do with this?

In reply to: WP Zoom's Yamidoo: How do I edit the featured slider?Update: One thing I have discovered however is that it seems it’s only the homepage that it acting up. When you click on the faulty homepage to any option in the menu, it will link through to the updated version of the site.
Is there a way to republish the homepage? Could there be a bug on my honmepage php?
Thanks

In reply to: WP Zoom's Yamidoo: How do I edit the featured slider?Ok, I’ve been having a whole load of new problems with this as I’ve just found out that none of my work for the past week or so is going live.
I have been editing the homepage, changing the background, the logo, publishing stories with pictures. Everything apparently published fine, I was able to look at the site on my computer and everything looks great. However, then I checked on my laptop and it is showing a really old version that I was testing with (a weird pink background and an old test logo and no pictures at all!)
I then tested it with another browser and same thing. I’ve been back to the dashboard and tried to make sure everything is saved. It is. But still no changes to the live site! What am I doing wrong?? Is this me or some sort of bug??
Some help would be great.
Thanks

In reply to: Work-a-holic theme issues (by graph paper press)Hmm, I just figured that you can actually “stick” posts to the home page, which is great!!! Only problem is how do you change the order??
Plus, it’s messed up the number of boxes on the homepage. I used to have six, then it jumped to 9 for some reason. Ad now it’s 10 which looks really weird because there’s just one box stuck to the bottom of the page by itself!

In reply to: Work-a-holic theme issues (by graph paper press)Thanks theotherlebowski! 🙂
Looks like I’m almost there – just one more problem that I’ve been struggling with. How do I make a page look like the original homepage but with stories of my choosing?
I have tried copying and pasting etc. Do I need to copy each story code onto the page? And if so, where do I find the code?
Thanks muchly in advance! 🙂

In reply to: Work-a-holic theme issues (by graph paper press)Ok, so I figured out how to delete all that text (when I eventually found the index.php file! lol).
Looks like I’m almost all set to go then! Just two more questions:1) How do you edit the “Just another wordpress theme” text under the header. Which php file is this in? I can’t seem to find it.
2) How to you make the homepage permanent instead of showing the latest posts? On another forum, someone said they figured this out by adding “Home” to the menu. Is there anything else you have to do too?? (Also, if I add ‘home’ to the menu it pushes my menu into two lines which I don’t want).
How do you add “home” to the menu? By creating a page or a post?? Sorry, I’m a bit confused about this. Thanks in advance!

In reply to: Work-a-holic theme issues (by graph paper press)Hi again,
By the way because I need to have a static homepage for my portfolio, I figured out that (at least I think so) I need to go to Settings and then Readings, and change the homepage setting to static page. However, it is then blank without any of the boxes, and I can’t for the life of me find a way to put those boxes back in to a blank page!
I have spent the last few days going through every forum and google search imaginable with no luck! I need to have this website up and running in the next few days, so am finding this really frustrating.

In reply to: Work-a-holic theme issues (by graph paper press)Hi Jesica, thanks for your reply. This may seem like a dumb question, but where is the index.php? I looked in the appearance/editor and the css files there but there isn’t one called index.php. Whenever I look in the files that I have there they all seem to be pretty short and none of them have that text I’m trying to get rid of?
I can’t believe graph paper press don’t offer support for this kind of thing! lolForum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Work-a-holic theme blog / frontpage questionsOk, so I figured that you need to go to “settings” and then “reader” and then click “set homepage to static page”. So I went to “pages” and set up a test page. Only problems is, how do I make the “page” look like the original homepage?? I can only figure out how to add plain text rather than the box links to my selected posts???

In reply to: Work-a-holic theme blog / frontpage questionsHi, does anyone know how to get rid of all of the text on the homepage? (the three widget texts at the bottom explaining how to use the widget section and also the big text right in the middle of the page that says “Hi! We design beautiful websites…”)
Also, is there a way to get rid of the widgets from the rest of the website? I tried using the text box and then filling it with a space but that can only be done for one widget.
I had a look at Sarah and Josh’s websites and they look really nice and clean on the homepage and that’s exactly how I want mine to look (also with a fixed homepage that doesn’t display every latest blog entry).
Any pointers how you did it would be muchly appreciated! Thanks 🙂
