This was my error – I had changed wp-db.php whilst tracking down a separate issue and did not connect the dots.
Anyway thanks – very useful tool.
I can change the code to fix this issue – but am not sure why it is not working by default?
Any ideas?

Correction: $_POST is not empty; just $_POST[‘Email’] is.
