I have a couple of hundred articles by myself; but if I let it export all the featured images across the site, I’d end up with literally tens of thousands. That’s why I was specific in my question that “I don’t want to get everything – just the stuff by me.”

In reply to: Blog's too big – how to split into partsAh yes, thanks James. I wasn’t paying attention and had missed that one. So when I deactivate that plugin, the page loads instantly, but I get presented with a home page devoid of any stories.
It’s meant to look like this but when the plugin is deactivated, it looks like this.
I note that the wordpress top bar doesn’t load either.

– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
– resetting the plugins folder
just tried all of those, didn’t make any difference 🙁

Subscribe to Comments will make a checkbox appear below the comment form on your blog. When visitors check the Notify me of followup comments via email checkbox when they submit a comment, they will receive an email notification every time someone else leaves a comment on that post
but that option “Subscribe to comments” doesn’t appear in my settings.
I’ve tried googling, but find anything :/

What you described is actually the source of my problem – when I go to settings > writing > remote publishing then click “save changes” my server returns the 403 Forbidden page

is it possible there’s some install/server misconfiguration which is causing this? i even tried auto-reinstalling wordpress, which didn’t help.
