OK all:
1) I did not mean to “create a non-existent problem”. Just because it was not a problem for you did not mean it was not a problem for me. It was an individual issue, and I appreciate the help that I got with it. But is sill was a problem that I had with WordPress that needed to be solved.
2) Scribblerguy: If you had read ALL of my original post, you would see that I need it to be different for posts and for pages…. this would make EVERYTHING including pages be that way. Sorry if I didn’t make that clear.
3) I didn’t want a plugin… I wanted a simple solution of adding a category to a page or something.
4) In the end, I decided against using the pages/ thing altogether (not because of this, but because I rethough the entire URL scheme idea)… treating “weblog” category as a page so that a post would be /weblog/post-name and pages would be /page-name which works well…. (thanks for the redirection hint, by the way).
So thanks for the help, but people who say this wasn’t a problem are simply wrong.
Smart…. didn’t think of that.
Not exactly an elegant solution though (but better than a plugin)!
Any other ideas?
