Scridb seems to be a good alternative to display tables, graphics, or anything: http://www.scribd.com/
What seems to work for me is to create a Word document, and define a new paper size and margin, so there is only a small amount of white space around the text/table/graphic. Then using the “Advanced Options” under “Embed This Document” I manually tweak the width and height to make the display look a bit better. The “HTML Embed code” can be pasted as HTML to a WordPress document.
I’m still amazed that tables are so hard in WordPress.
