@trackoholic – just following up on some older posts. Did you ever get this resolved?
@deanna V. Amirante – just following up on some recent reviews and support queries. Did you get this resolved?
@ssphillips – thanks for the kind words and nice review!
@moonvader – Thanks for taking the time to post, and sorry to hear about the difficulties. Can you give a sense for what issue you’re having with this update?
@ronny Geenen – I’m assuming you mean that you added a NextGEN widget to a widget area in your footer, rather than a widget area in your footer? If so, yup, that should work fine. Lots of people use the NGG widget in their footer widget areas.
@progresst – Thanks for the adjustment. Much appreciated. We’ll talk about either removing that message entirely, or allowing it (and any future messages) to be removed at once by the network admin.
@dwrz – just following up on some reviews. Did you resolve this issue? If you had no access to your admin panel, I suspect that may have been a conflict. We’d be curious to know what caused it for you, or whether it’s been resolved in recent updates.
@richtwebguy – You probably saw in some other threads, but just wanted to confirm we pushed an official update today that addresses the imageURL issue. Thanks.
@progmastery – +1 for Cais’s point about the recent performance improvements. The latest releases also dropped almost 25% of the zip file size for the plugin.
@tim92109 – thanks for reading and adjusting. Much appreciated.
The galleries have always generally worked on mobile. One exception was our basic flash slideshows (because they’re flash). We removed those recently partly for mobile incompatibility as well as some other reasons.
We’ve worked view a few bugs over time, mostly related to cross browser compatibility. So for example, you test something and find it works on all but, say one browser type on one phone version. Between mobile and desktop, different operating system versions, and different browers, there’s an ongoing battle to ensure everything behaves consistently across browsers.
Thanks again. And, of course, we’d love to see you give it another try in the future. (Erick)
Hi @fowler… Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Just a few thoughts for you and for others reading this.
I want to emphasize for anyone reading that this review is actually about NextGEN Pro, which is a different plugin from NextGEN Gallery. The main words I see about NextGEN Gallery itself are the beginning with “Basic version is good for what it does, but not excellent.”
On the performance issues, @fowler, you mentioned that the recent NGG release did give NextGEN a performance boost. The next Pro release will have a similar boost, but it’s just not out yet.
I know you mentioned 30 second load times for a gallery – while NextGEN can have a performance impact in some environments, if you are having 30 second gallery load times there’s something else going on. I’m guessing either there’s some kind of server bottleneck, or you are trying to load hundreds of large images so that the actual page size is just large. Sounds like it’s probably the latter.NextGEN generally excels at batch management and handling of lots of images. So it’s a shame that you’re having issues there. I’m assuming that most of the critique, again, comes down to front end load performance rather than actual management of the images. And again I think that the front end performance issues may be related to sheer volume or image size rather than NextGEN itself.
Finally, you mentioned Pro as a beta. Just to be clear for those who don’t know about Pro, it’s out for a year and half, and has over 13,000 users as a premium plugin. If it was on Themeforest, it would easily be one of the most popular premium plugins there. So it’s very well developed, and definitely not beta-level.

@fowler – I know I’m countering some of your points here to provide some balance. It sounds like you’ve had some real issues, and I don’t want to dismiss that. It’s not great to see someone have such a hard time with one of your products. We apologize for that and wish you the best finding an alternative solution.I guess I’d just emphasize that most of these issues sound fairly specific to your situation and they seem to relate to Pro, which is a different plugin.
Again good luck finding another solution.
Thanks. (Erick)

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] Good plugin@lexxlevi – Just following up on some old reviews.
As you know this review was written following a major overhaul of the plugin in version 2.0. At this point, most of the issues related to that overhaul of the plugin have been long addressed.
I’m not sure if you’re still using NextGEN at all, but given the improvements since your review and the current performance of the plugin, a one-star rating seems a bit harsh. We’re wondering if you might consider revising your rating?
Let us know if you have questions. Thanks. (Erick)

As you know this review was written following a major overhaul of the plugin in version 2.0. At this point, most of the issues related to that overhaul of the plugin have been long addressed.
In particular, we’ve pushed a lot of performance enhancements since the time of your review. The latest releases have been specifically focused on performance.
In any case, given the current performance of the plugin, we’re wondering if you might consider revising your rating?

@redefinered – Just following up on older reviews. Are you using NextGEN, and are you still having any issues like this?
@i2late2die @christian Frick – Just following up on some old reviews and wanted to confirm that we’ve pushed a release (2.0.71 and later) that removes NextGEN-related scripts from any pages except those with NextGEN Galleries.
@i2late2die – given this was the major reason for your one-star review, we’re also wondering if you might consider revising your rating upward.
Thanks. (Erick)
