I’ve been following this thread closely, as I am having all of the same problems, and none of the proposed solutions have worked for me. I read: http://wordpress.org/support/6/10874 and wonder if Beel (or anyone) could be more specific. Namely, if changing rewrites would help, how? and how is this done?

I, am also looking for something to vary the design according to category. perhaps there is a way to do things conditionally, where, if category = x then sidebar content = y or something like that?
MooKitty’s plugin looks great, but I have a question about it. Does it also hide these categories from the feed? I would like to have a front page that only lsits a certain category, but I’d like my feed to be a catch-all for everything. Is this possible?
