    …guess not!

    I found this cropping up all of a sudden on all the pages / posts on one of my sites.

    Not Found The requested URL /linkr/get/ was not found on this server. Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at xxx.xx.xx.xx Port 80

    I also found a load of injection links hidden in the header.php file on the same site, which I manually removed.

    I had a look in the footer.php file and found this piece of code at the bottom of the file:

    <?php
    error_reporting(0);
    include ('foter.php');
    ?>

    I also found the file “foter.php” in the theme directory (clever huh? looks like footer.php). Anyway, neither the bit of code or the foter.php file were in the original theme files.

    I deleted the code above and the foter.php file and the unwanted wording went away.

    My guess is that it is related to the injected links in the header.php file – although they could be separate issues.

    Of course some toxic bot must have put it there in the first place and so simply removing it is only going to deal with the symptom. I am going to go through the site with a fine tooth-comb and the previous advice about file access permissions would seem to be a good place to start.

    Follow the ‘Click here for more information’ link and try clicking on the “Check network status” button.

    I think it is a bit of a glitch caused by the new upgrade to Akismet. I checked with my host and there were no such blocks in place and the domain was not black-listed. Clicking this button probably refreshes the system. Certainly it seems to resolve the problem and cleared the alert message and shows that everything is running fine.

    I’ve just come across this on a number of sites. I found that by installing the Tiny MCE Advanced plugin, it solved the issue.

    http://www.laptoptips.ca/projects/tinymce-advanced/

    It does add a few new functions onto the Tiny MCE interface, but crucially all the old ones return as well. Additionally, the content (which was invisible / white and only visible when selected) returns to normal.

    Okay. All sorted. I have my plugin and I am satisfied that there was some kind of glitch – it not having happened to anyone else that I can discover. I take it all back.

    I can only agree with danatstadiumvolleyball’s comment of ten months ago. I ordered the mailing list plugin from them this week. The payment went through, but there is no download, no email, no product.

    I contacted them through their site and via the Skype link on their site. Antonie Potgeiter (the guy who runs Tribulant) sent me an email telling me to reset my password, which I did and precisely nothing happened. Again more questions to them, but no response to my further pleas for help.

    As it stands, they have my money and I have precisely nothing in return. I hope it is a genuine mistake, these things happen sometimes. Certainly I will post back here if ultimately the matter is sorted out. However, as it is, I am so frustrated with Tribulant, that I am posting my experience of trying to deal with them up here.
