In reply to: Add a customized default avatar… php function won't workGravatar needs to be able to see that file actually exists.
I had a problem with testing on a local site and then uploading and changing my hosts file. I could see the image there but Gravatar.com could not. Make sure you upload your default gravatar to somewhere its API can see.

@fantasywedding – Nobody but Google really knows which way is best but after reading a ton about SEO, most people say to put it as domain.com/blog
Here is an answer from SEOMOZ –
Placing your blog in a directory is the best solution. When you place your blog on a sub-domain, it will receive no benefit from any links you have earned so far. Nor, will your e-commerce store receive any benefit from links that your blog gains since they are in a sub-domain. So to make both your blog and e-commerce store popular and rank well, you would have to build links to both your sub-domain and to you main domain. If your blog was in a directory and you write an amazing post that gains millions of links, your e-commerce store would receive some of that link juice unlike if it was sitting in a sub-domain.

In reply to: Lost access – all white pagesIt is probably an issue with your .htaccess file in the root of your wordpress install. Do you have a backup of it you can restore?
It should be domain.com/blog
Not blog.domain.com
