After trying many variations, I reset all settings in Events Manager to the defaults and restarted it. This worked. Thanks for the support.
Some errors listed, but its hard to say if it is directly related to the plugin. I will try different options.

I tested this with different sites and with different themes. It is not working with the Weaver II theme, but it does work with Twenty-Eleven.
Events Manager worked very well until the last update. Now we can’t edit existing events created in the earlier verion. We have to delete the event and republish a new one and even the new ones can’t be edited. Hopefully you can find a fix for this soon or I may have to find another plug-in.
