Thanks for the feedback. I’m not sure this is the same issue as Jon, but your double spacing should be fine – I’ve added a bug to the bug tracker, and this should get fixed for the next release.

Yes, it was helpful thank you. I have verified this as a genuine bug, but have not yet implemented a solution. This should be fixed in the next release.

The <footnotes></footnotes> method should be considered deprecated, but I’m not planning on dropping support for it in any particular future release and can’t see why I ever would.
I’ve tried to replicate this issue using the latest released version of WP-Footnotes but couldn’t. Everything worked as expected when adding links inside footnotes.
If you’re still having issues and are using the latest version, please log a bug.

In reply to: [WP-Footnotes] [footnotes] for custom placement no longer workingI don’t recall this ever being a feature of a released version of this plugin. I have a feeling you may have been using a modified version of the plugin made by huyz.
A similar shortcode functionality has now been incorporated into the official development version, but has not yet been tested and released. This should happen soon, but feel free to download and use the dev version at GitHub until then.

Yep, that’ll do it.
Unfortunately, this only works for users running PHP 5. (That’s why its not like that by default).

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have added this post as a ticket in the WP-Plugins Trac system (http://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1194).
An option to turn off links certainly sounds like a good idea and I’ll do my best to include it in the next release.
If you have any other suggestions or bug reports, please add them to Trac rather than using the forums.
