Thank you! This was exactly what I have been looking for.

In all due respect for the valuable service you and the other moderators provide, it would be nice to hear from you exactly what you mean to imply when, as above, you send someone to the codex message.

My wife opened and read your response the first time that you introduced us to your usage of that particular codex message. My wife immediately interpreted that you were trying to politely tell the person to SPEND money hiring someone to handle the problem rather than bother you guys. My counter argument to my wife was that that would not serve as an instructive answer because most people that use this forum are attempting to self-educate themselves burdened by the volume of data and not knowing where to start.

Your response would be greatly appreciated because as many times as I have read that one, I have no clear idea what is intended convey.

Thanks for your idea, however, that is exactly where the quote given above came from. Since I know nothing about this stuff, I went back there are saw no indications that one might find any code there. Just to be clear, I dragged one of the active links to the area beside my article. Maybe you could provide a more detailed place following admin>appearance>widgets wherein the code would be found.

Esmi, I read all of the article Widgetizing Templates etc. Well, I didn’t understand it, although I did make an attempt. Thank you very much, I have to catch a train in one hour so I’ll give this one the resolved status until I get where I am going in 36 hours. Thank you.

And I bet you know how to explain that so I can now do that, right?

Where does one find ‘page/post editor?

Bravo MichaelH! You have unerringly led me to knowledge. Even better, it seems that you have taught me the value of the excerpt that is really a precis. Now while I know how to do what I wanted to do which is to create a teaser, it seems that it will be more valuable for me to apply WP logic and write a summary a.k.a. excerpt thus tempting search engines to pick it up as the meta-tag. Increasing page views and thus appealing to a larger audience. Well done! Thank you!`

Thank you MichaelH for providing some semblance of an answer, hopefully, it will not be offensive to state that Stuart Wider, the designer of this theme, has previously responded with that same information. Thus giving a positive indication that programers, theme developers and others knowledgeable in the world of WordPress should be capable of using and understanding this arcane language. Although it appears to be a subtle form of communication, I do understand that you would, perhaps, prefer that I pay someone to do this for me.

While I can certainly understand your position, that would not advance my knowledge of this subject matter and since it is my current intention to make many of these it would, therefore, become an expensive endeavor. Accordingly, I respectfully request that you tell me where I might learn how to resolve this issue. It may well be that it is as simple as reading a few more articles or as complex as taking a series of courses. Again thank you in advance.

Thanks MichaelH! Finally, I read somewhere that I should put the following: http://domainname/wp-admin. It worked!

I am using Heatmap Theme, and I tried several variants including: http://heatmaptheme.com/index.php, without favorable results. Certainly, since so many people write articles and leave only parts of such articles on the front page attentuating or deferring the rest of the article to a secondary and/or tertiary page.

If that is not the reality of WP blogging, could you provide a more specific direction in which to make this change?

Thank you! You both offered some valuable advice. RVoodoo, how long do you think before the merge occurs? If the timing is not good, then I should be able to follow Shane Gs recommendation

    RVoodoo,

Just to be more informative, I write my post on a MSWord and do all of my editing there. At that point, I copy and paste, and it is my intention to extract the first 1-3 paragraphs of each article and plug them into where ever you send me next, and then to take the entire article and go to one of the back pages which I am hoping that the link will direct me correctly to the exact page.

RVoodoo, while I am sure that will work, on my computer it can only do so if I can find everything that you have described, and, unfortunately, that is not the case. First, I don’t even know what the ‘main body section’ is or where to find it, nor do I know how to ‘insert a “read more” break, and what I found beside the chain link icons in the editor is among other things a list that goes like this:
    Development Blog
    Documentation
    Plugins, et al

Then I found ‘order by name,’ ‘order by link ID,’ ‘order by address,’ and ‘order by rating,’ none of which seemed to suggest that they would appropriately form a ‘read more’ link. Is it possible to be a little more explicit in your explanation understanding that yesterday I would have never thought that I would be here doing this now.
