  • My FTP Connection issue is resolved. If your site and blog are hosted NOT on WordPress, contact that other company and ask for your FTP Connection Username and Password.

Or you can find it yourself like this: For those on a Mac using Fetch FTP software, you’ll find your user name in your Fetch ‘Shortcuts’. Select ‘Show Shortcuts’ from the ‘Shortcuts’ drop-down menu. Find your password in: Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access. Double-click ‘Keychain Access’ then double-click on a ‘Fetch Password’ item from the list that pops up. A small window appears with ‘Attributes’. Check the bottom box to: ‘Show password’ and it will appear in the adjacent field. (You’ll need your computer login password or administrative password to get it to appear. I can’t help with that.) This password cannot be changed so make a note of it.

I’m having the same problem. I signed up yesterday and did access my Dashboard (username and password were accepted). I chose a new theme: TwentyTen; clicked Add Theme; selected, previewed, and tried to automatically apply/download.

A “Connection Information” window opened for my username/password — NOT accepted. I was back at “Connection Information” with the cursor blinking in the Password field (message said to check info). I also tried to upgrade WP to see if I could but exactly the same “Connection Information” window thing happened.

Clearing cookies (they are enabled), browser cache, and relaunching browser didn’t help, nor did changing my password. I can only access my Dashboard through my blog page Meta link, not through a WP site page (if that’s a clue).

I’d like to upgrade WP first then set my theme and customize it. What more can I do to get past this “Connection” password problem?

I work on a Mac OS 10 v10.5.4, Firefox v3.6.8. NetSol hosts my site where I can see the “blog1” folder along with my site files. http://dreamwatch.com/blog1/

Please help, I have nowhere else to go. Should I just delete the “blog1” folder and start over? When you reply, please pretend you’re writing to your grandmother!

    Thanks for your help. Kat
