First comment: Not sure if this could be done via CSS. All javascript functionality will be lost.
Second comment: Find date.js file into the plugins folder and change it accordingly.

Hi,
Widget width can be changed from the demo.css file that is under \wp-content\plugins\jquery-accessible-tabs\lib folder.
You can play with max-width in order to adapt the plugin to your blog.
